Ballenberg
The Open-Air Museum Ballenberg is a private foundation with the aim of collecting, researching, preserving and communicating traditional rural buildings together with their typical facilities for living and working from all parts of Switzerland. Ballenberg is a lively cultural centre with events, courses, exhibitions and publications. From the 17th century onwards, with the arrival and use of new types of vegetables in Switzerland, by religious refugees, traders, muleteers and returning mercenaries, twelve gardens were planted in the Open-Air Museum Ballenberg according to historical models, faithfully reproduced in their original form and still cultivated today as in the olden days. Lindenhof purchases products from Ballenberg for the “Lindenblüte” restaurant.
