  • The Brienz Wildlife Park is open all year round, all day long and can be visited free of charge. Dogs, which are kept on a leash, are allowed in the park. It was founded in 1896 on the initiative of the Cantonal Woodcarving School of Brienz (today the School of Woodcarving Brienz). The animals served as living models for the apprentices.

  • If you are looking for winter sports fun, the Axalp above Brienz is a small, family-friendly winter sports area away from the hustle and bustle. The Axalp is situated on a terrace high above Lake Brienz. The family-friendly ski area is known for its often good powder snow and relaxed operation. Adventure hiking trail with around 100 carved figures from Brienz: the well-maintained hiking trail starts on the Axalp at the upper car park. After an approximately 1-hour hike through the varied alpine landscape, you will reach the idyllic Hinterburgseeli.

  • The Open-Air Museum Ballenberg is a private foundation with the aim of collecting, researching, preserving and communicating traditional rural buildings together with their typical facilities for living and working from all parts of Switzerland. Ballenberg is a lively cultural centre with events, courses, exhibitions and publications. From the 17th century onwards, with the arrival and use of new types of vegetables in Switzerland, by religious refugees, traders, muleteers and returning mercenaries, twelve gardens were planted in the Open-Air Museum Ballenberg according to historical models, faithfully reproduced in their original form and still cultivated today as in the olden days. Lindenhof purchases products from Ballenberg for the "Lindenblüte" restaurant.

  • The Brienz Rothorn Railway has been carrying passengers to the Brienzer Rothorn since 1892. By the way, the Brienz Rothorn Railway is the only Swiss rack railway with daily steam operation.
